Survivor: Madidi - Rookies vs. Returnees is the eleventh season of Bennett's Survivor series. It began on July 6th, 2017 and ended on July 29th, 2017. This was the first season to have a cast comprised of an equal amount of returnees and newbies. It was the third season overall to feature returning players in some capacity. After 22 days, Stary was titled Sole Survivor, winning in a 7-2 vote against pikaplayer. At the reunion, CoachWade was honored with the "Player of the Season" award.
Production
Survivor: Madidi - Rookies vs. Returnees began with twenty castaways. The cast was immediately divided into two tribes based on whether they were entering the game as a returnee or a rookie. The rookies joined the Ibare tribe, in yellow. The returnees joined the Tacuna tribe, in purple.
Twists
- Returning Players: Ten castaways who failed to win on their first attempt returned under for a second chance. At the start of the game, they were all put onto the Tacuna tribe. They faced off against Ibare, which consisted of ten people who were completely new to the series.
- Hidden Immunity Idol: A traditional hidden immunity idol was hidden at each camp beginning at the final eighteen. Unlike past seasons, the process of finding the idol was altered so that it required more skill and less luck.
- Schoolyard Pick: At the final fifteen, an individual immunity challenge took place to determine two new tribe captains. These captains would initiate a schoolyard pick to determine two new tribes of seven. The odd person not chosen was immediately eliminated from the game.
